Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is currently one of the most important approaches in the field of psychotherapy. However, the use of CBT in child psychotherapy is still new. This method of treatment was used for children and adolescents after the 1990s.

Today we use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of anxiety disorders. In many scientific studies and articles, the benefits and the effects of CBT are undeniable. In these scientific articles, we see that CBT reduce anxiety symptoms as well as anxiety.

It’s also effective in the treatment of disorders and that these effects are permanent (Cartwright Hatton 2004).

Anxiety disorders are one of the most common problems of child and adolescent psychiatry. Also the studies have shown that CBT playes an important role in the treatment of anxiety disorder in children and adolescents. Due to some scientific articles the effect is permanent. The primary goal of CBT is to change inappropriate learning and thinking patterns in children and adolescents with anxiety disorders .

Increasingly children and young people are experiencing anxiety and low mood and for parents this can be a worrying time. Anxiety and low mood can present in children and young people in many different ways such as a reluctance to attend School, emotional mood swings, isolating behavior or anger.

At #mindjourneyuk we are University level accredited therapists that are dually trained as registered nurses. We understand the concerns that parents may have and offer a free initial consultation for help and advice.
If therapy is not suitable for your child we will always signpost you to appropriate services at your consultation meeting and explain why therapy is not suitable.

Whilst we also work with adults, our therapists are all vastly experienced working with Children and Young People. We have a range of therapeutic play toys at our dedicated offices and also schedule group work with children

CBT is recommended as a treatment by the NICE guidelines. ( National Institute of Clinical Excellence). We work with anxiety, depression, trauma, worry, stress, OCD, overthinking, panic, social anxiety, GAD, health anxiety and autism.
