Who Can Do Hypnosis?
In most countries, stage hypnosis for demonstration purposes is prohibited. Because hypnosis is a medical intervention. Also the authority to perform hypnosis is granted to physicians, dentists and clinical psychologists who have received training in hypnosis and hypnotherapy for therapeutic purposes only. This is an extremely on-site application. Because hypnosis is a very easy application, but to treat diseases through hypnosis, that is to apply hypnotherapy, requires knowledge of hypnosis as well as specific professional knowledge about these diseases and their treatments and to be competent in this regard.
Physicians should practice hypnotherapy in their area of expertise where they are trained. Because both their education and their legal powers are limited to their fields of expertise. For example, a specialist in asthma, a gynecologist at painless birth, a dermatologist in skin diseases, a psychiatrist in mental illnesses, a dentist in tooth extraction and gum diseases are both competent and legally competent. Because they will apply their expertise in hypnosis when treating these diseases with hypnotherapy.
Although knowledge of hypnosis does not authorize the dentist to treat panic disorder or to give painless birth to a psychiatrist, and the radiologist does not authorize the treatment of sexual dysfunctions. Each specialist will be successful if he / she applies the hypnotherapy within his / her expertise.
Is it possible to go to past lives or future with hypnosis?
No way! Unfortunately, this is one of the most abused areas. Although it may be used to reveal some unconscious repressed disturbing memories in one’s own life, this is a very special technique that can be applied by experts. If it were possible to go to previous lives and especially to the future, everyone would make money in games of chance and see everything you could think of and change the course of time! However you may think that someone approaching with such promises is definitely a charlatan or a psychiatric patient.
Where / in which diseases can hypnosis be used?
- In psychiatry:
- Tic disorder
- Eating disorders
- Psychogenic pain disorder
- Conversion disorder
- Sexual dysfunction
- Dissociative disorders
- Panic disorder
- Test anxiety
- Post-traumatic stress disorder…
Is hypnotherapy a specialty?
There is no academic specialty or title called “hypnotherapist”. However knowing or practicing hypnosis does not give a person the title of hypnotherapist. So, what’s really important is the specialization (gynecology, skin diseases, internal medicine, psychiatry, etc.) that the hypnotic physician is qualified for after receiving his residency training after graduating from medical s hool. Hypnosis, on the other hand, is a “treatment tool” and a technique that these people use when necessary to treat diseases within their area of expertise.
