Mental health problems in PhD students

Doctoral education is the highest and most compelling level of the educational process.
The subject of scientific research in Belgium in 2017 is the investigation of doctoral students and their mental health.

In this study, there is a significant increase in the mental health problems of PhD students.

The research students studying in Flanders in Belgium.

Due to the results of a study 32% of doctoral students had a high risk of experiencing a common psychiatric disorder, especially depression.

According to the research, one of the two doctoral students was experiencing a psychological problem. Also one third of doctoral students have a common psychological problem. Moreover it was found that the rules and policies within the organization were closely related to the psychological problems experienced in the studies.

Doctoral education, which you must prove yourself academically, is a challenging process. The limited employment alternative is also a reason for increasing the pressure.
 
 
The same research revealed that the prevalence of mental health problems was higher in PhD students than in those with higher education.
