Are online psychological therapies safe?
The answer to this question will depend on the patient, psychologist, and place of therapy. For many patients who are not able to get help locally for their mental health needs, online mental health therapies are a good option.

This therapist can provide online therapy via email, video calls, and telephone. These applications are for providing cognitive, behavioral, and emotional change. Its content is extensively formulated and presented in a well-structured format. They provide personalized, individualized clinical treatment similar to traditional face-to-face services.
It also includes internet-based CBT homework and feedback. In addition to feedback, the clinician can answer some questions and provide support and advice on the progress of treatment.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Therapy
As in any treatment for psychiatric disorders, ethical and possible side effects are important issues in internet-based CBT. While there are general issues to consider; such as human rights, there are some issues specific to Internet-based CBT practices.
The American Psychological Association (APA) recommends psychologists comply with the standard 1.04c, competence limits, in a statement on the provision of services via telephone, teleconferencing, and the internet. They stated that in such cases where general education standards are not yet available, psychologists must ensure the adequacy of their work and that it is necessary to take necessary steps to protect patients, clients, students, and others from harm (APA, 1997).
The decision to act in accordance with existing ethical principles, values, and standards makes sense to emphasize the applicability of ethical codes in all circumstances regardless of the rapid changes in technology.
In contrast to face-to-face therapies in internet-based psychotherapy applications, providing information on the advantages and disadvantages of administration and other alternatives available will help clients make an informed choice. Informing the client about the negative effects of internet-based interventions during the psychoeducation process is important.
In order to obtain consent in internet-based psychotherapy, the client can sign the consent form. Because securing confidentiality is an important ethical principle of psychotherapy. Even if the therapist takes measures to ensure confidentiality, he/she should advise his/her clients.
