For example, the concepts of psychologist or psychiatrist are often used in the same sense. With this usage, the two groups which are actually very different in terms of the education they receive are mixed together.

It is the person who has knowledge about the general diseases of the human being, and has the authority, knowledge and equipment to define the mental structure and to treat when necessary.

The psychiatrist coordinates the mental health team as a clinical decision-maker. In order to provide high quality psychiatric services, application, evaluation, treatment, referral to other units and termination of treatment and rehabilitation stages are defined. The planning of the treatment to be administered to the patient and the evaluation of the treatment are entirely under the responsibility of the psychiatrist. It is entirely within the responsibility and competence of psychiatrists to diagnose all kinds of mental problems, to plan treatment, medication and other treatment methods, as well as to implement appropriate psychotherapy.

No other professional group has the authority to carry out these practices independently.
